Fuzzy Pink Cuffs

In honor of the upcoming Valentines Holiday I thought I would provide you with a little story about LOVE!

Once upon a time there lived a young man and a young woman very much in love.

They had a wonderful courtship, full of fabulous hotel suites, dressy parties and cleverly named drinks.

The young woman was madly in love with this handsome young man, so much so that she agreed to let him 'tie' her up with the fuzzy pink handcuffs purchased earlier that day.
It was a magical night.

Time passed, the couple grew older and still their loved continued, so they decided to make it official and said "I DO" in the presence of their friends and family.

The celebration was grand, good times had by all and at the end of the night the newly married husband pulled out the 'fuzzy pink cuffs' he had been saving for that 'special occasion.'

His new bride could not have been happier.

Time continued to creep past, babies were born, toddlers grew to young children, careers were built and soccer games attended. But one day while cleaning out the closet, the wife stumbled upon the long forgotten 'fuzzy pink cuffs' and thought...ooh, now wouldn't this be fun?!

She went about the rest of the day excited with anticipation until finally the time came for this long married couple to kiss goodnight and crawl into bed.

She waited until her husband was comfy and then leaned over to him and said in her most 'sexy' voice....
"Honey, can I tie you up?"

Without opening his eyes the husband said to her...
"You already put a ball and chain on me...isn't that good enough for you woman?"

Happy Valentines Day - I hope it's one to remember!!

Helpless

I feel SMALL.

I feel VERY tiny.

I feel HELPLESS.

POWERLESS to do anything to get results.

I'm stuck between wanting to put on my tall 'Mom Boots,' step all in their crap and demand answers until I get what I want (even though I am NOT their mother)

&

Wanting to be patient, understanding, be their 'friend' and just wait until the time comes when I am needed.

I feel LOST.

I feel like I'm waiting for the phone to ring (as soon as I let my guard down) and someone is going to tell me "I'm sorry to tell you this, but..."

I fear this the MOST.

Even though I know this happens, it is life - we are born and we die - I am not ready to lose someone close to me and yet, I cannot get it out of my head.

When asked, "Do you think they would give up?" I am mostly afraid - they already have.

Don't let today pass you by...

Do it for Love

The other evening, after my 10 mile run, Mark stopped me to see how my training was going and if I was on track for the marathon coming up in December. As much as I would have liked to say, "Yes, I'm on track and ready for more" I had to admit to him that I was not and had fallen behind on some of my weekend long runs.

When he questioned me as to why I was not doing them I said it was because I did not have time. His response to this was "make time" or drop back from the full to the half marathon, an option I am unwilling to accept at this point.

Make time. Simple enough, but how do you carve out time in an already hectic and overly full schedule? I do not know how to do this other than to cut a few things out of the equation, none of which I am ready to give up just yet.

Last night, while watching one of my favorite TV shows (Lipstick Jungle) there was a song "Bottle it Up" by Sara Bareilles that played and caught my attention.

Love you're all I ever could need only one good thing
Worth trying to be and it's
Love
Love
I do it for love, love, love, love
Oh, only gonna get get what you give away,
So give love, love

This is why I do what I do...why I've always done what I do. Love. Isn't this why any of us do anything we do? We do for our family by taking care of them, (doing homework, making lunches, shuffling from practice to practice), we do for our friends (being there when they need us, chatting, blogging, having lunch) and they are there for us. Somewhere in this we have to do for ourselves so that we too can get what we need. In my case it is school and running. Maybe I'm a sucker, but I enjoy doing for my friends and family and tend to cut back on things I do for myself when I run short on time. Yes, there comes a point when I can no longer cut back and have to tell them no, but that point is not very often.

The point I am trying to make, is that life is busy and hectic and crazy, but love makes it all the more interesting. Love makes every moment worth it and even though my sanity runs short some days and I want to scream and shout at the gods to give me more time - I wouldn't change anything...I would still do it all for love!

What do you do for love?
