Games

I've mentioned in the past that we (the hubs and kids) are game players. When getting ready for our Halloween party I asked you what your thoughts were on playing games, to which most of you said you would do if others were playing. Now I am curious about games as in - just for fun?

Growing up, my family did not play games so this was not something I learned to enjoy. However, when I became part of the military, playing games were something we did pretty regularly (seriously how else are you going to pass the time when you are stuck on a ship in the middle of the ocean?) Point I am trying to make, is that my new found appreciation for the board games was something I acquired late in life.

The hub, on the other hand, was a game player-his family are game players and so as such, our children are now game players. I thought we were alone in this love of board games, but no...we have managed to find people just like us who have a twisted love affair with games. We have a small group of friends who we can count on to join us in a battle of wits, skills, and sometimes war against each other in an effort to win bragging rights. (Can you play Taboo or Cranium without an all out battle??)

Imagine my surprise, as I sit at my desk early in the morning and listen to a heated conversation about the previous weekend's battle of boardgames. I'm talking grown men and women going all out and planning their revenge in a rematch.

As I sat behind my little cubical wall, smiling to myself, all I could think was - I was living in a parallel world and these were my counter peoples, but most likely I realized I am probably not as rare a breed as I originally thought and us gamers...well, we're not a dying breed after all.

What about YOU - Do you like to play games with friends? Do you have a favorite?

We love games, but we don't play with anyone else, just the family. I'm not a competetive type though, for me it's all about fun!

I don't play games with friends, in that I have none that WILL play games. But I play with my kids-does that count?

Curt & I will play cards every now and then, but.. since our family is just the two of us, and our two furry kids, we can't really play board games.

But two Saturdays a month, we get together with our favorite couples at someone's house and have "Game night" which includes Taboo, Monopoly, Apples to Apples, Clue, Candyland, and all the classics. We all bring a side and a six pack and it's a good time.

I sometimes like games and cards. I like to play rummy with my husband. And I like Uno with my two young boys. I don't really like to play with friends. I'd rather just talk and drink wine.

I play board games with my kids all the time - THEY LOVE them!! I learned early on in my relationship with my husband that he is NOT a good gamer - he gets mad if he is losing- throws pieces etc - So I don't really like him to play with the kids b/c he won't "let" them win

One day at Wal-m@rt around Christmas-time, I saw some games on sale so I got Candyland and Battleship. Mr. C and I played both several times, talking trash about beating the other person. hee hee.

I like games!

Apples to Apples is one of my all time faves! Though Mr. Mayhem and I used to partake in a mean game of Yahtzee...back in the day!

We LOVE games! We've have actually taken to calling people for backup during a heated game of Scrabble! (Yep...we're losers!)

I've never been big on games, but my family was more of a Canasta card game type. Still to this day, there are heated games to be enjoyed. But not really board games. Greg would be open to any type of game, he's very competitive. I'm not...

We are a game playing family.
I love it...sitting on the floor and all playing a board game is the best. But competing against eachother in some Wii bowling is always a blast too!

I'm finally getting to Heathers list of winners! I wish we played games more often in my house. We love the card games the most. Sometimes my kids will talk me into one of their games so they can beat me wildly bad and laugh, so I'm usually game for that torture~~Your entry gives me a nudge to set up a game of something this weekend for us all to engage in.

We have a DVD game system called GameWave that's a lot of fun; everyone gets a remote to enter their answers, and everyone can play. We are also big fans of Apples to Apples.
